Abstract

The role of the goalkeeper in modern football has evolved significantly, requiring not only technical proficiency but also high-level tactical understanding. This study aimed to optimize the tactical training of goalkeepers aged 13–14 during the pre-competition period, in line with the demands of contemporary European football methodology. Ten goalkeepers were included in an experimental training program over 8 weeks, focusing on decision-making, positioning, anticipation, and build-up play. A combination of tactical drills, small-sided games, video analysis, and GPS-based monitoring was employed. Pre- and post-intervention assessments were conducted using standardized situational simulations and video-coded decision analysis. The results showed significant improvements: correct tactical decisions increased from 68% to 85%, and positioning accuracy rose from 70% to 88%. Anticipation and initiating play from the back also improved markedly. These findings support the inclusion of tactical-specific exercises and performance feedback in goalkeeper training from early adolescence. The integration of modern technology and European training models proved effective in developing young goalkeepers’ tactical performance, with implications for long-term athlete development.
