DE LA MEMORIE LA IDENTITATE. TOPONIMIA CHIȘINĂULUI INTERBELIC

Abstract

Identitatea orașului interbelic a fost în strânsă corelare cu spațiul, a ceea ce reprezenta urbea prin esență, și ceea ce asigura mentalității colective stabilitate. Pentru a se putea defini și legitima comunitatea interbelică și-a păstrat în memorie imaginea spațiului propriu, pentru că fiecare comunitate decupa spațiul într-o manieră a sa, își stabilea linii- le, granițele, fiind accesibil pentru cei care se regăseau fideli în el, dar interzis pentru ceilalți. Per ansamblu, Chișinăul avea o marcă identitară desprinsă din fizionomia fostului imperiu. Spectaculos prin natura și felul său deosebit de a fi, Chișinăul avea acele fațete care aminteau totuși (de la străzile largi, spectrul multietnic al populației etc.) de existența unei comunități cosmopolite desprinse dintr-un spațiu urban multicultural atât de contrastant cu periferia orașului. Treptat, în contextul administrației românești, Chișinăul a împletit în istoria sa caracteristici ale românității vizibile mai ales la nivel de toponimie stradală.

The identity of the interwar city was in close correlation with the space, of what the city essentially represented, and what ensured the stability of the collective mentality. In order to be able to define and legitimize the interwar community, it kept in memory the image of its own space, because each community carved out the space in its own way, established its lines, borders, being accessible to those who found themselves faithful in it, but forbidden for others. As a whole, Chișinău had an identity mark detached from the physiognomy of the former empire. Spectacular by nature and its spe- cial way of being, Chișinău had those facets that still reminded (from the wide streets, the multi-ethnic spectrum of the population etc.) of the existence of a cosmopolitan community detached from a multicultural urban space so contrasting with the outskirts of the city. Gradually, in the context of the Romanian administration, Chișinău has woven into its history the characteristics of visible Romanization especially at the level of street toponymy.
