Abstract
The subject of the following study brings to attention the role of the Lutsk War of 1431 in the evolution of the Moldavian-Polish-Lituanian relations. While the pro-Polish revolt in the western Podolia served as the main casus belli for the conflict between the Kingdom of Poland ruled by Władysław Jagiełło (1386-1434) and the newly elected Grand Duke of Lithuania, Świdrygiełło (1430-1440), the position of the Moldavian prince, Alexander the Good (1400-1432) changed from a pro-Polish to an anti-Polish stance, joining the war on the Lithuanian. The following presentation focuses on depicting the possible causes for such a radical political choice for the Moldavian Principality, as well as the repercussions it had on the evolution of the Moldavian-Polish-Lituanian relations during the 1430’s.
