The phenomenon of active citizenship is a relatively new concept, not developed at a systemic level, which made it more difficult to develop participatory democracy and a civic culture among young people in the Republic of Moldova. The general purpose of this research is to establish the level of activism among young people in the Republic of Moldova, identify the challenges that affect active citizenship and develop solutions to stimulate the civic activism of young people and encourage participatory democracy at the local level. Thus, the approach for active citizenship in this study starts from the finding of some premises that refer to: the analysis of the situation in the Republic of Moldova regarding the development and promotion of the concept of active citizenship, the identification of policy mechanisms and the actors involved, both at the level of public institutions and and at the private and non-governmental level.en
