Abstract

This paper analyzes the current sustainable public procurement system in the Republic of Moldova and its impact on public finance management. In the context of European commitments on sustainable development, public procurement is gaining a strategic role in promoting a sustainable economy and in the efficient use of budgetary resources. The study assesses the national legislative framework, the degree of integration of sustainability criteria (environmental, social and economic) in procurement procedures, as well as the main indicators for monitoring the sustainable public procurement system. Through an analytical and comparative approach, the research highlights the potential benefits of sustainable procurement on public finances, such as reducing long-term costs and increasing budgetary efficiency. The conclusions highlight the need for administrative reform and an integrated strategic vision to transform public procurement into an effective instrument of sustainable governance.
