Abstract

Due to the major impact that AI can have on society and the need to build trust, Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 was drafted in line with the Union's values enshrined in Article 2 of the Treaty on European Union (TEU) and the rights and freedoms fundamental principles enshrined in the treaties. According to regulation [2, art.2], the Union is based on the values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, as well as respect for human rights, including the rights of persons belonging to minorities. These values are common to the Member States in a society characterized by pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality between women and men.
