Abstract

This pilot study on older people’s difficulties in adapting to digital technologies has provided a comprehensive insight into how older people relate to the digital innovations shaping contemporary society. The results show that although digital technologies have permeated all areas of social, economic and cultural life, the process of integration is uneven and older people remain one of the most vulnerable groups in the face of this rapid transformation. Studying digital technologies cannot be imposed on older people by standardized methods or abstract formats. They need a personalized approach, centered on their pace and ability, with clear explanations, practical exercises and adapted materials. This study identified issues that prevent older people from learning digital technologies. The study, conducted in the municipality of Chisinau, on a sample of 110 respondents: 64 women and 46 men, provided us with solutions to improve their quality of life.
