Weddings are the most spectacular events that mark the collective mind of any
community. Of course, from one generation to another, the wedding ceremony, including
in the student environment, involves modernizing changes, registering different
characteristics, conditioned by certain historical, political, ideological, cultural
and/or social circumstances. From this perspective, the weddings of our predecessors,
especially those performed in the student environment of the 80s of the last century,
with all the defining elements, were not necessarily identical. As the title indicates,
the purpose of the article is the analysis of weddings performed among students in the
Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic in the second half of the 1980s. The basic informational
tool used in approaching the subject is iconographic sources (vintage photography),
which accumulate document value, including information extracted from
semi-structured interviews collected in accordance with oral history methodology.
