In 1904 in Chisinau was born the Church-Archaeological Society of Bessara-
bia. Since its inception, the Society has focused its work on studying the past of the
spiritual and cultural life of Bessarabia, by researching and describing churches and
monasteries. A special place is the publishing of scientific research in the Society
Magazine, as well as the creation of the Church of Antiquities Museum. The Society
has made an invaluable contribution to the study of ecclesiastical heritage, culture,
art and spirituality in Bessarabia.
