The goals of this graduation thesis are to emphasize two different perspec tives regarding the political activity of Sigismund of Luxembourg. On the one hand he is an emblematic late medieval emperor who takes the responsability to protect the Church and to lead the Crussade against the Ottoman. On the other hand, he takes the first steps towards the modernity by encouraging the centralisation of the political authority within the kingdom of Hungary.
