This article represents the results of the research on the topic of the shadow economy in Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic in the period of 1940 – 1941. The aspects of the underground economy in MSSR are emphasized through the historiographic and archival materials from Republic of Moldova. Between 1940-1941, the communist regime imported in Bessarabia not the soviet economy, but elements such as bribery, speculations, misappropriation of government funds.
