Item Experiența europeană privind îmbunătățirea securității turiștilor prin bune practici de logistică verde(CEP USM, 2024) Bulat, Veronica; Carp, ElenaThis article explores various initiatives and measures implemented by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) to protect tourists and revitalize international tourism. The International Code for the Protection of Tourists provides guidelines for safeguarding tourists' rights and managing crises. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, UNWTO launched the Global Guidelines to Restart Tourism, which include safety and security measures to restore travelers' confidence. Partnerships with the Council of Europe promote cultural routes as a means of sustainable development, protecting cultural heritage, and encouraging intercultural dialogue. Collaboration with Google and other organizations supports education and digital innovation in the tourism sector, contributing to the digital transformation of tourist destinations. UNWTO develops protocols for tourist safety and offers technical assistance to member states, addressing challenges such as cybersecurity and human trafficking. Additionally, UNWTO promotes research and information exchange on tourism security, cooperating with international organizations such as ICAO and Europe through collaboration between EU member states and the tourism industry. This article explores investment opportunities to boost Moldova’s eco-tourism by highlighting the importance of educational programs and the implementation of projects based on community engagement, partnerships, and the integration of international models for managing tourism in protected areas, drawing from the U.S. National Forests and National Parks’ experience. The article also addresses infrastructure needs and financial feasibility, which are critical for attracting investment in eco-tourism development. Specific initiatives, such as developing multifunctional centers and creating nature interpretation trails that consider both visitor experiences and tourism’s impact on natural sites, reflect the complexity of the required actions. All these efforts should be complemented by continuous support across different levels, including governmental institutions, the private sector, academia, and local communities. The rationale for investing in eco-tourism is explained by Moldova’s strategic geographic location and its potential to attract niche tourism markets. Investments should focus on the long-term benefits of sustainable tourism, which not only generates economic revenue but also preserves Moldova’s natural and cultural heritage for future generations.Item Global best practices and challenges in sustainable tourism: insights from the world tourism organization (UN Tourism) initiatives(CEP USM, 2024-10-24) Siv, OliviaThis paper takes a close look at the successfully completed project “Empowering Young Women: Sustainable Livelihoods through Tourism”, implemented by UN Tourism in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of Moldova, Invest Moldova Agency, and Moldova State University, with funding from the Estonian Development Cooperation. The project takes a new approach to achieving the SDGS and its objectives are to raise awareness on the role and opportunities of sustainable tourism to promote gender equality, both among young women and public and private tourism sector stakeholders; and to increase the number of young female entrepreneurs with improved skills for the tourism sector. In its first stage, a rapid tourism training needs assessment was carried out through interviews, focus groups and surveys with a wide range of stakeholders’ groups. Based on this assessment, a multi-component training programme was devised and delivered during the second phase. The tourism skills training delivered to 256 female entrepreneurs across 11 rural villages has proven to be a valuable tool for women in the Republic of Moldova, providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully develop and manage businesses in this sector. The 2-day training-of-trainers course provided to 5 female gender equality experts created the desired ripple effect. This strategy aims to cultivate a self-sustaining cycle of mentorship and growth among female trainers in the country, paving the way for enduring professional development. The online gender equality training delivered to more than 60 tourism stakeholders had a substantive impact as it provided an important opportunity to gain valuable knowledge about the challenges and opportunities related to gender equality in tourism; and being part of the solution in creating a more equal and inclusive tourism industry, and economic empowerment for women in the Republic of Moldova.Item THE ROLE OF ART-MARKETING IN THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL HERITAGE TOURISM(Springer Nature, 2023) Bulat, Veronica; Hămuraru, MariaResearch and protection of cultural heritage is a particularly relevant field for international tourism. The problem offers multiple topics for scientific investigation, which still expects researchers to be tempted to examine changes in culture as a whole, in various historical periods, and especially, for the Republic of Moldova’s case, in the Soviet period, as well as their effects on the entire contemporary society. The interdependence of sustainable marketing with other sciences, the heterogeneity of economic and social processes and phenomens that shape its area of research is the framework for this young economic science, to manifest itself as a multidisciplinary science, with an open character, which also ensures its universality. By appealing to the field of arts, marketing generates a chain of reactions for visualizing the strategies for promoting the national cultural heritage. The aims of the study are to present how art is known in our time, to emphasize not only its embodiment of beauty, which performs both educational and aesthetic functions, but also the process of integrating a brand into a work of art. Tourist guides play a crucial role in promoting sustainable tourism practices and preserving local cultures and natural resources. This article delves into the role of tourist guides in the development of sustainable tourism and examines the benefits of utilizing local guides in promoting local cultures and traditions, as well as the impact this has on the local economies of tourist destinations. The significance of tourist guides in promoting sustainable tourism is due to the fact that sustainable tourism itself is not always appealing to the average tourist. Professional guides can impart not just interesting information, but also present it in a memorable and engaging manner, inciting desired actions. That is why their role in this process is undeniable. This article discusses practical ways in which tourist guides can implement this in the most effective way. After all, they have a unique opportunity to educate and engage tourists in the practice of sustainable tourism and encourage them to behave responsibly while traveling in various ways described in this article.Item DEZVOLTAREA DURABILĂ A DESTINAȚIILOR TURISTICE(CEP USM, 2022-05-20) Luca, TatianaThis article aims to focus on the lesser known issues related to the impact of tourism on destinations. The author will analyze this impact from the perspective of sustainable development, a concept that found its place much later than it should have in the universe of research in tourism studies. For this reason, tourism is rightly considered one of the fastest growing sectors of the world economy and an important source of income and jobs. Modern tourism is closely linked to the social and economic well-being of many countries, especially developing countries and their environment. Sustainable tourism has become a trend due to the negative impact of human society on the environment through production and consumption. Therefore, tourism aims to contribute towards solving the problems and challenges associated with the development and implementation of monitoring tools for the impact of sustainable tourism on sustainable development, which contributes to job creation, development of local culture and national products. The animation activity occupies one of the leading positions in the structure of hotel complexes and is directly related to other services that are of decisive importance in ensuring successful operation in the tourism market. Animation is a profitable solution in hospitality in any adverse situation, such as weather conditions, traffic jams and others. Thanks to animation, tourists experience positive feelings and tend to visit the exact tourist destination they have already been to several times. Animation activities represent an opportunity to implement sustainable tourism practices. The aim is to minimize the negative effects of tourism activities and maximize the positive aspects.Item CONTROLUL CORPORATIV ÎN SPRIJINUL MANAGEMENTULUI FINANCIAR MODERN DIN DOMENIUL HORECA(CEP USM, 2022-09-27) Caprian, Iulia; Truşkina, Natalia; Balan, TatianaEffective management of company finances is a dominant challenge for business managers. Travel company financial management aims to provide the company with the necessary financial means on a permanent and regular basis as well as to exercise control over the efficiency of the activities carried out with these funds. An important trend in the development of financial management at international level is its alignment with the system of corporate governance, which in turn entails the implementation of an internal and external control system within the economic entity. Today, control is a way of analyzing the company's activities and implementing a new type of internal management that enables managers to effectively coordinate the company's activities. Internal control is also seen as a managerial function, whereby company managers note the resulting deviations from the set objectives, analyze the causes and take remedial or preventive action. This trend has been reflected in the legislation of the Republic of Moldova and in the financial practices of domestic companies.Item MANAGEMENTUL SERVICIILOR ÎN INDUSTRIA OSPITALITĂȚII(CEP USM, 2022-09-27) Balmuş-Andone, MihaelaHospitality is an industry as diverse as the culinary delights that grace the tables of its establishments, with a customer- oriented mentality, and when combined with management with its distinct allure of leadership and accountability, hospitality management is achieved. The importance of the hospitality industry is proven by its market value. It is an extremely influential part of the market, which continues to grow annually and accounts for 1 in 10 jobs worldwide. The hospitality industry supports local economies and jobs, and many communities would suffer death without the money that comes from this industry. It accounts for a considerable share of the GDP of most countries, and this percentage is growing over time. Moreover, it provides a livelihood for large numbers of individuals and families.
