    Calitatea managementului întreprinderilor mici şi mijlocii este un factor determinant în asigurarea eficienţei economice la nivel de unitate economicăşi sumar la nivel mezo şi macroeconomic, luând în considerare ponderea sectorului întreprinderilor mici şi mijlocii în numărrul total de întreprinderi. Pentru asigurarea funcţionalităţii şi dezvoltării sale durabile, managementul întreprinderilor mici şi mijlocii, indiferent de domeniul de activitate, imensiune, resursele deţnute, organizare structuralăşi procesuală a activităilor din cadrul întreprinderii tc., trebuie să aibă la bază conceptele teoriilor economice, organizaţionale şi manageriale, are-i vor permite să se ajusteze condiţiilor mediului de afaceri.
