The banking sector of the Republic of Moldova, which currently consists of 11 banks, during a relatively small period of almost three decades, has experienced several shocks and crises, caused by endogenous and exogenous factors, which have caused the liquidation or initiation the procedure of liquidation of 17 banks. The multitude of liquidated banks
or in the process of liquidation determines, on the one hand, an analysis of the causes of emergence and development of these crises because the liquidation of any bank produces a shock both to the banking sector, as well as to the population or the business. On the other hand, this failure of the banking sector, dictates an analysis of the quality of the interventions of the National Bank of Moldova in order to manage these crises, and respectively the identification of potential instruments meant to strengthen the financial control system of the banks.
