Sustainable development and the promotion of innovation represent development priorities both globally and for the Republic of Moldova. The main objective of public procurement is for the procurement to bring considerable benefit to society in view of long-term sustainable develop-ment, not only on the basis of the lowest price. Although laudable, current developments cannot fully address the main social, economic and environmental challenges. The Republic of Moldova demonstrates a clear commitment to support sustainable and innovative public procurement, both politically and in those reflected in different support mechanisms. At the same time, the na-tional innovation system remains in its infancy. The research theme focuses on improving the management of public finances through the development of the sustainable public procurement system.
