Two institutions established in both the national laws and the instruments of uniform law come to regulate the situations in which, due to unforeseeable events at the time of the conclusion of the contract, which do not depend on the will of the contracting parties seriously affect the ability of the parties to performe their commitments - force majeure and hardship. This article is dedicated to the legal analysis of these two important institutions of international contract law.
