    Definirea noţiunii cetăţenie calitate a persoanei în doctrina juridică nu prezintă dificultăţi. Problema care se pune este determinarea naturii juridice a cetăţeniei. Fiind un subiect controversat în literatură, în articolul de faţă vom stărui a clarifica lucrurile cu problema în cauză. Evident că în mod imperios este necesar acest lucru cât priveşte şi cetăţenia europeană.

    The evolution of the legal system has implicitly left its mark on many legal institutions and on citizenship, an institution of the constitutional law. New relations within the European Union influence the traditional institution of national law, as well. In this article, we describe the institution of citizenship evolution from genesis to the opportunity of joining the European citizenship.
