Item READINESS TOWARD THE IMPLEMENTATION OF OPEN SCIENCE INITIATIVES IN THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA(De Gruyter Poland, 2023) Țurcan, Nelly; Cuciureanu, Gheorghe; Cujba, Rodica; Cojocaru, Irina; Cojocaru, IgorOpen Science paradigm involves transformations throughout the entire cycle of scientific research. Decision-makers play thekey role of paradigm change facilitators. Consequently, the promotion of Open Science requires a political commitment.Even though Open Science movement emerged at the international level back in 2002, its principles are being implemented quite slowly inthe Republic of Moldova. Thus, the current study aims to analyze the importance and benefits of Open Science policy implementation, the strategic priorities of theRepublic of Moldova on Open Science, barriers in transition to Open Science in the Republic of Moldova, and identification of the key actorsin development, adoption, and implementation of Open Science policies in the Republic of Moldova. The study employed a mixed method: survey among members of the scientific community (quantitative data collection) and semi-structuredinterviews of the key informants in Open Science policies and practices (qualitative data collection).Item PERCEPTION OF OPEN SCIENCE IN THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA(Lumen Publishing, 2022) Țurcan, Nelly; Cuciureanu, Gheorghe; Cujba, Rodica; Lupu, Viorica; Cheradi, Natalia; Cojocaru, IgorOpen Science becomes the basic concept in organizing and conducting the research and development process. The opening of the process of research and communication of science is supported and promoted both at the international level and at the national level in many countries through science policies and actions. At present, no Open Science policy is approved at the national level in the Republic of Moldova, but there are actions, undertaken by various organizations or within some projects, that promote this concept. And recently, the national authority in the field of science policy has been concerned about the promotion of Open Science principles in the country. Policy development and implementation of Open Science principles is difficult without involving all stakeholders and without knowledge of the current situation, both in terms of technical and legislative issues, and especially in terms of awareness of the need and willingness of people to contribute to this process. In this context, we set out to carry out this study, taking into account the insufficient level of debates and analyzes on Open Science subject carried out in the Republic of Moldova. Its purpose is to determine the attitude, the level of awareness and involvement in issues related to Open Science and its elements in the Republic of Moldova, which will serve to develop Open Science policies and instruments at national and institutional levels.Item RESEARCH IN COMPUTER SCIENCE IN THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA: A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS(2019) Țurcan, Nelly; Coșuleanu, Ion; Grecu, Mihai; Cujba, RodicaThis paper presents results of bibliometric and text-based analysis of Computer Science research output produced by academia from the Republic of Moldova during the 2013-2018 years. The authors have collected data for research output indexed in three databases: Web of Science (WoS), Scopus, and National Bibliometric Instrument (NBI). Data from these databases were collected to obtain important indicators such as total number of research papers and citations, citation impact, h-index, collaboration patterns, top institutions, authors and publication sources. A detailed comparative analysis was performed based on these data. The authors also have performed a text-based analysis on keywords of papers indexed to identify thematic trends for research in Computer Science field. The analytical results present a detailed and useful picture of the status and the competence in Computer Science research in the Republic of Moldova.Item RESEARCH DATA IN THE CONTEXT OF OPEN SCIENCE: CASE STUDY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA(Viena:Facultas Verlags-und Buchhandels, 2019-05-02) Rusu, Andrei; Țurcan, Nelly; Cujba, Rodica; Grecu, MihaiAt present, there are important changes in scientific research, changes that concern both the organization, realization and evaluation of research, as well as the use and dissemination of scientific results. These changes that are characteristic to the Open Science phenomenon are determined by the development of new technologies, by increasing the social role of scientific research in an institutional and political context. The Open Science concept represents a new approach to the way in which scientific research based on cooperation and new ways of disseminating knowledge is carried out and organized, using new digital technologies, new tools for collaboration, and RDI infrastructure to ensure open access to research data. The paper presents the results of the study on mapping research data in the Republic of Moldova. The study is based on results of two surveys conducted in January-February 2016 and May-July 2018. The research has highlighted the general concern of RDI actors about the retention and use of scientific data. A new challenge is needed to solve scientific data issues by creating new type of infrastructure to ensure data archiving, broad access for the purpose of their dissemination and reuse, and thus creating new research opportunities based on research data.Item BIBLIOMETRIC ASSESSMENT OF RESEARCH ON ENERGY IN THE WORLD, IN THE EASTERN EUROPE AND IN THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA(2019) Țurcan, Nelly; Cujba, RodicaSociety is becoming increasingly dependent on energy. It is a stimulating factor for economic growth and technological change, but also the most significant limiting factor. The analysis of research trends on energy is of great importance because it provides a picture of the development directions of the future. The goal of the paper is to evaluate the performance and tendencies of researches on energy in the World, Eastern Europe region and in the Republic of Moldova. This goal is achieved by using bibliometric methods. Bibliometrics has become standard method for measuring the impact of research, which is accepted as a valid way of ranking scientific performance and tendencies. The novelty of the work consists in the wider geographical and chronological coverage of the study in comparison with similar studies, as well as that the analysis was carried out based on data extracted from two international and one national databases: Scopus Elsevier, Web of Science Core Collection and National Bibliometric Instrument. It was revealed that on global, regional and national levels the number of papers on energy increases quicker than the total number of publications. There is also a growth of the share of publications on energy from total number of documents on global, regional and national levels. The contribution of the Eastern Europe in the global information flow on energy increases slowly but stable. Lower speed of increase of the contribution of the Republic of Moldova in the regional (EE) information flow on energy is detected.Item VIZIBILITATEA PUBLICAȚIILOR ȘTIINȚIFICE – PARTE INTEGRANTĂ A SOCIETĂȚII CUNOAȘTERII. Item VIZIBILITATEA PUBLICAȚIILOR ȘTIINȚIFICE – PARTE INTEGRANTĂ A SOCIETĂȚII CUNOAȘTERII.
