    CHOOSING THE TEACHING PROFESSI ON AMONG DANCE STUDENTS

    This research focuses on identifying the motivations for choosing teaching, the level of commitment and satisfaction from this choice of observant dance students. The data was collected with a structured questionnaire developed especially for the research. According to the findings the questionnaire is valid. The intrinsic-educational and altruistic motivations were found to predict commitment to teaching. In addition, the socialization agents – family members and friends – were found to have an emotional influence, while teachers influence through modeling.

    THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE INTERVENTION PLAN IN AN INDUCTION WORKSHOP FOR OBSERVANT DANCE TEACHERS TO INCREASING THE LEVELS OF PROFESSIONAL COMMITMENT AND SATISFACTION

    The article examines the contribution of a model for an intervention plan of female observant dance teachers in their first year of teaching, to their coping with difficulties teaching and to an increase in their commitment to teaching and satisfaction therewith. The findings show that there was a significant decrease in the general index of the difficulties, the perception of satisfaction with teaching increased significantly between the beginning of the workshop and its conclusion, and a tendency of increasing was found in the perception of commitment to teaching.

    THE IMPORTANCE OF ALTRUISTIC MOTIVATION IN CHOOSING THE PEDAGOGICAL PROFESSION

    The choice of a profession has always been an endeavor, and the choice of the pedagogical profession has implied thorough considerations of the advantages and disadvantages of this decision. The motivations in choosing specifically the pedagogical profession diversify themselves and imply not only extrinsic and intrinsic, but altruistic as well. Therefore, this article approaches this problem, moreover it stresses the importance of altruistic motivation in choosing the teaching profession thus highlighting the complexity of this profession among others from the perspective of the technocratic society.

    TO GROW AND DEVELOP AS A HUMAN BEING": PERCEPTIONS AND POSITIONS OF DANCE TEACHERS TOWARDS THE CONTRIBUTION OF DANCE EDUCATION TO PUPILS AS PART OF THE FORMAL CURRICULUM AT SCHOOL

    This paper deals with perceptions and positions of observant dance teachers towards the contribution of dance education to pupils as part of the formal curriculum at school. The research tool is interviews that were analyzed according to the grounded theory approach [11], accompanied by Brinson's model [2]. It was found that the main theme that emerges from the interviews is that dance education contributes to the personal and social growth of the pupil. This research is pioneering in the field.
