dc.description.abstractThe integration of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) into education represents a significant opportunity to bridge the gap between learning and scientific research, particularly within STEM and environmental education. This study analyzes the educational potential of drone-based learning in fostering scientific, digital, and sustainability-oriented competencies. Grounded in contemporary pedagogical models such as inquiry-based learning, experiential learning, and research-based learning, the article examines how UAV technologies support authentic learning experiences that replicate key stages of the scientific method, including hypothesis formulation, data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Drawing on recent international literature and European policy frameworks, including the Digital Education Action Plan (2021–2027) and the GreenComp framework, the study highlights the role of drones as mediating tools that facilitate the transition from theoretical education to applied research. The findings indicate that the use of UAVs in educational contexts contributes to the development of STEM, geospatial, digital, research, and transversal competencies, while also enhancing learner motivation and engagement. The article argues that the systematic integration of drone-based activities into curricula can support educational innovation, strengthen the education–research nexus, and better align academic programs with contemporary societal and environmental challenges.en
