INFLUENȚA STADIULUI VÂRSTEI A TREIA ASUPRA SCHEMELOR COGNITIVE LA VÂRSTNICI

Abstract

The present research is aimed at identifying the psychological factors that determine the extent to which the elderly approach the changes that occur with aging. Thus, the peculiarities of early maladaptive cognitive schemes at different stages of the third age and possible differences in their manifestation are investigated. The group of subjects was 174 people over 65 years of age, men and women, who live at home and in residential centers in Iassi. Two research instruments were used, namely the “Mini Test for Mental State Examination - MMSE” in order to exclude subjects with cognitive impairment, those with severe consequences after a stroke, severe hearing impairment and the “Young Cognitive Schema Questionnaire-YSQS3”, to measure the “early maladaptive cognitive schemas” dimension. Finally, signifcant differences were obtained between the 3 stages of the third age regarding the manifestation of cognitive schemes.
