APLICAREA STATISTICII MATEMATICE ÎN CERCETAREA FENOMENELOR SOCIALE

Abstract

Cunoştinţele statistice nu sunt o raritate în arealul specialiştilor din domeniul ştiinţelor socio-umane. Statistica oferă acestor specialiști instrumente și tehnici pentru ordonarea, gruparea, sistematizarea, concentrarea sau corelarea datelor empirice. Analiza statistică a datelor nu se substituie analizei teoretice, ci oferă o bază pentru testarea, analiza și interpretarea ipotezelor sau pentru sistematizarea semnificațiilor inerente datelor sociale. În lucrarea de faţă sunt tratate aspecte ce țin de proiectarea unui demers de cercetare a fenomenelor, relațiilor sau proceselor sociale, și de evidențiere când și cum intervin tehnicile statisticii matematice în derularea acestui demers.

Statistical knowledge is an indispensable component of the professional competence of specialists in the field of socio-human sciences. Statistics provides these specialists with tools and techniques for ordering, grouping, systematizing, concentrating, or correlating empirical data. Statistical data analysis is not a substitute for theoretical analysis, but provides a basis for testing, analyzing and interpreting hypotheses or for systematizing the meanings inherent in social data. This paper deals with aspects related to the design of a research approach to social phenomena, relationships or processes, and highlights when and how the techniques of mathematical statistics intervene in the development of this approach.
