The article presents the research methodology using intelligent software tools for obtaining remissions of mental and behavioral disorders. The research presented in this article began in 2003 under the guidance of psychiatrist-epileptologist Dr. Alexandru Popov. Having success in achieving remissions for patients with mental and behavioral disorders in epilepsy(MBDE). The main goal is to utilize expertise in medicine, genetics, mathematics, computer science, and artificial intelligence to discover the mechanisms of MBDE remissions and to develop intelligent support systems for diagnosis and treatment.
Elaborated expert system determines mental disorders according to symptoms that patients have. It asks questions concerning 132 symptoms. The result of execution of application can be one of 24 different diagnoses. The expert system is intended to be used for education of medical students, clinicians.
