    CONSOLIDAREA COOPERĂRII UE - NATO ÎN CONTEXTUL RĂZBOIULUI DIN UCRAINA

    The war in Ukraine, conditioned by the occupation of the Crimean peninsula in 2014 and the invasion of the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, is, since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the event that will have the greatest geopolitical implications on the international arena. The ongoing war implies a number of long-term effects for the security and stability of the European continent. Also, the war in Ukraine produced an unprecedented political convergence in Europe, with a unanimous perception of the need to increase defense capabilities. The objective of this article is to highlight the main steps taken by the EU and NATO in order to ensure security on the European continent. The presence of the war in Ukraine, on the border of the EU and NATO conditions a strengthening of combat capabilities and a more effective collaboration between the two organizations - the EU and NATO
