The article includes the analysis of social services for family and child in rural areas. The author evaluates the network of social services for family and children at risk in the Hânceşti district and identifies examples of good practice and gaps in their work. Also, he determines the need for the creation and development of new social work services for family and child in rural areas.

The author makes a critical analysis of the current sistem of social services, characterized by inadequate development, centering on intervention in difficult situations rather on prevention etc. The author analyzes Government steps taken in creating Integrated Sistem of Social Services, but promotes the necessity of modernizing this system by some concret action. In conclusion the author mentions that the Republic of Moldova is fully engaged in the process of adjusting to European values and standards, the reform of social services being in this context one of the most important.
