Item THE ANTIPROLIFERATIVE, ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITIES AND TOXICITY OF MIXED-LIGAND AMINE-CONTAIN- ING COPPER(II) COORDINATION COMPOUNDS WITH 2-(2-HYDROXYBENZYLIDENE)-N-(PROP-2-EN-1-YL)HY- DRAZINECARBOTHIOAMIDE(2021) Garbuz, Olga; Toderas, Ion; Ulchina, Ianina; Graur, Vasile; Railean, Nadejda; Gulea, АurelianFive compounds 2-(2-Hydroxybenzylidene)-N-(prop-2-en1-yl)hydrazinecarbothioamide (H2L), bis[μ2-2-({2-[(prop-2-en-1-yl) carbamothioyl] hydrazinylidene}methyl) phenolato-S,N,O:O] diaquadicopper (II) nitrate (1), bis [μ2-2-({2-[(prop-2-en-1-yl) carbamothioyl] hydrazinylidene}methyl)phenolato-S,N,O:O]d iimidazoldicopper(II) nitrate (2), bis[μ2-2-({2-[(prop-2-en-1-yl)carbamothioyl]-hydrazinylidene}methyl)phenolato-S,N,O:O]bis-(3,5-dibromopyridine)dicopper(II) nitrate hexahydrate (3), bis[μ2-2-({2-[(prop-2-en-1-yl)carbamothioyl]-hydrazinylidene}methyl) phenolato-S,N,O:O]bis(4-methylpyridine)dicopper(II) nitrate hexahydrate (4) were synthesized. The antiproliferative properties of these compounds towards cancer cell lines HeLa, RD and normal cell line MDCK have been investigated. The tested compounds demonstrated high antioxidant and antiproliferative, selective activities towards cancer cells. Direct toxic evaluation of compounds was performed by Daphnia magna bioassay.Item DIVERSITY AND FUNCTIONING OF PHYTOPLANKTON IN THE DUBASARI WATER ACCUMULATION RESERVOIR(CEP USM, 2014) Ungureanu, Laurentia; Toderas, Ion; Tumanova, Daria; Ungureanu, GrigoreDuring the period 2009-2011 the Dubasari lake phytoplankton was represented by a total of 90 species and intra-specific taxons, where Bacillariophyta, Cyanophyta and Chlorophyta species are prevailing. Numbers of phytoplankton ranged from 6.16 to 13.76 mln.cel/l with the biomass from 4.27 to 18.41 g/m3 in the spring and from 2.13 to 35.99 mln.cel/l with the biomass from 7.02 to 24.13 g/m3 in the summer, and from 3.5 to 13.3 mln.cel/l with the biomass from 2.91 to 17.61 during autumn. Share in the phytoplankton numbers belongs to cianofite algae, and in the algal biomass to bacilariofite algae. The maximum intensity of production processes was recorded in the summer, primary production values being located within 0.84 to 9.95 gO2/m-2 24 h. Seasonal and spatial fluctuations in lake primary production are accompanied by fluctuations in phytoplankton biomass, community structure of plankton algae succession, changes in nutrient elements concentrations and water transparency values oscillations. There were established variations of the saprobe index values within 1.68 to 2.72. Most saprobe index values were within limits of the β-mezosaprobe zone and indicate attribution to the water the quality classes 3a -”satisfactory pure” – 3b “moderately polluted”.Item SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE IN THE LIGHT OF CLIMATE CHANGE: EFFECT OF TEMPERATURES AND EXPOSURE TIMES ON THE MORTALITY OF THE DAGGER NEMATODE XIPHINEMA INDEX(CEP USM, 2023) Sasanelli, Nicola; Toderas, Ion; Iurcu-Straistaru, Elena; Rusu, Ștefan; Bivol, Alexei; Gliga, O.; D’Addabo, T.The gradual rising of average temperatures due to climate change are increasing the problem caused by phytoparasitic nematodes. To predict the effect of soil solarization on Xiphinema index, an experiment was undertaken to investigate the effect of different temperatures (from 25 to 42.5 °C) and exposure times (from 2 up to 2,048 hrs) on the mortality of the nematode. Surviving nematodes were expressed as percentages of those surviving at 25 °C. The differences to 100 were considered as mortality percentages. To kill 50% of nematode population were necessary 180, 34, 4.7 and 2.5 hours at 35, 37.5, 40 and 42.5 °C, respectively. Data fitted the model Pt=Po10- Δt/(q+mT) reported in literature.Item TICK-BORNE PATHOGENS IN URBAN GREEN SPACES IN CHISINAU’S CITY PARKS(CEP USM, 2024) Morozov, Alexandr; Toderas, Ion; Nirca, Vadim; Victorova, AnnaCity parks of Chisinau, Moldova, were examined for the occurrence of host-seeking ticks and collected specimens were examined for presence of Borrelia spp. and Anaplasma phagoci tophilum pathogens. In the spring season 2021, the collected individuals were Dermacentor reti culatus (n =42), Demacentor marginatus (n =21) and Ixodes ricinus (n =146), Haemaphysalis punctata (n=2) . Totally, 5.2% of tested ticks were PCR-positive with A. phagocytophilum and 13.2% gave positive PCR results for B. burgdoorferi s.l.. We did not detect any mixed infections. These results indicate that city parks in Chisinau are habitat for ticks of high medical and veteri nary importance. Due to the risk of acquiring tick-borne pathogens, the urban environment such as parks and home gardens, should be monitored for the presence of ticks and their infection with human pathogens. Screening of these areas is an important preventive element of environmental epidemiology.
