    In today's global context, especially in higher education, sustainability and innovation are closely intertwined. This study deepens the key role of higher education institutions not only as academic centers but also as dynamic catalysts for sustainable economic growth, especially in the Eastern Partnership countries. Focusing on Moldova's active participation in research and innovation initiatives of the European Union, we evaluate its position in the Global Innovation Index compared to its counterparts from the Eastern Partnership. We emphasize the importance of the triangular interaction between science, business and academia in promoting innovation. The study highlights the European Union's concerted efforts to stimulate research-led economic growth in the region. By analyzing key performance indicators and innovative outcomes, this study offers a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by the Eastern Partnership countries in their pursuit of sustainable development in an era of global interdependence.

    SISTEMUL NAȚIONAL DE INOVARE CA INSTRUMENT DE SPORIRE A COMPETITIVITĂȚII ȚĂRII

    Tranziția spre o cale de dezvoltare inovativă devine posibilă datorită creării sistemelor naționale de inovare (SNI), care, potrivit cercetărilor științifice, reprezintă principala realizare a secolului XX. Ca răspuns la provocările globale, asemenea sisteme reprezintă o abordare complexă și inteligentă a procesului de identificare a domeniilor strategice de intervenție, bazate pe analiza punctelor forte, a potențialului economic, cultural, intelectual. Specializarea inteligentă cuprinde o viziune largă asupra inovării, incluzând, fără îndoială, abordări bazate atât pe tehnologii, cât și pe mecanisme eficiente de gestionare, cum ar fi managementul inovațional. Începutul formării SNI în Republica Moldova a fost lansat prin aprobarea, în 2004, a Codului cu privire la Ştiinţă şi Inovare. Actualmente, procesul de formare a SNI este în proces de consolidare.
