    The distinction between abuse and addiction can be challenging in terms of diagnosing different substances/behaviors of abuse, possible co-occurrence with other behavioral addictions, and the social contexts in which they are practiced. Gambling behaviors, for example, seem to be associated with a defcit in self-control processes and the use of maladaptive coping strategies; they can lead to failures in self-regulation and impulse control.
