    Infracţiunea de proxenetism

    Over the years, a series of statistics that indicate the extent of the prostitution and pimping phenomena development have been compiled, as well as various social and legal tools for combating and reducing it. In the Republic of Moldova, the phenomenon of pimping has significantly increased in recent decades, representing a reflection of broader socio-economic challenges. Although pimping may seem like a straightforward crime, in practice, situations that arise create confusion, thus leading to the pronouncement of controversial and incorrect judgments. The legal framework presents several challenges to the competent authorities in accurately qualifying acts of practicing prostitution, pimping, and holding the perpetrator criminally accountable.

    It is important to establish the legal nature of the crime, to carry out extensive legal research, scientific and historical research on pimping, to develop legislative proposals to improve the rules, which provide for liability for the crime of pimping. Human history shows that the basic transformations of social life are always accompanied by considerable increases in crime, especially in its most dangerous forms, which parasitize on the basis of the weakened organism of society. Thus, in realities where poverty, unemployment, lack of opportunities for the younger generations and low level of education persist in society, the phenomenon of pimping and prostitution has become more common.
