Item COUNCIL OF EUROPE ACTION AGAINST TERRORISM(CEP USM, 2016) Ejov, CristinaItem HISTORIOGRAPHY, THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL BASES OF TERRORISM RESEARCH(CEP USM, 2015) Ejov, CristinaIn this article the author examines the theoretical, method ological and historiographical background of the terrorism phenomenon research. The author, also, makes an attempt to syst ematize the scientific literature on terrorism; theoretical and methodological approaches of the phenomenon are also defined. The author notes that, the phenomenon of terrorism is a multidimensional one. Terrorism is known to mankind since ancient times. For centuries it was used as illegal, but a sharp and effective tool in a political struggle. But at the end of the 20 th and at the beginning of the 21 st century, terrorism acquires the characteristics of an international phenomenon. Its goals and objectives, as well as its human constituent components cross the national boundaries and cultures and become an international phenomenon.Item INTERNAL FACTORS AND GEOPOLITICAL ASPECTS OF THE ARAB SPRING(CEP USM, 2015) Luchin, Timur; Ejov, CristinaIn this article authors comprehensively analyze the internal factors and the geopolitical aspects of the Arab Spring. This phenomenon has seen the removal of numerous political regimes in its way, and it has had great impact on the political situation and democratic governance in the Arab world in particular, an d the world in general. We highlight zone of interests, systems of alliance and regional geopolitical flashpoints in general, and the role of the U.S. as “prima player” in the region in particular. The Arab Spring led to regime change and de mocratic reforms, but, at the same time, its “furious power” has set fire to the civil war, social unrest and prolonged political crises.Item STRATEGIA EUROPEANĂ DE GESTIONARE A MIGRAȚIEI DIN STATELE ÎN CURS DE DEZVOLTARE ȘI ZONELE DE CONFLICT(2019) Ejov, Cristina; Voroneanu, CristinaLucrarea abordează strategia migraționistă a Uniunii Europene pe termen lung și scurt, axându-se pe fluxurile migraționiste din țările în curs de dezvoltare și zonele de conflict. Autorii analizează cooperarea dintre UE și statele în curs de dezvoltare ca mijloc de management a migrației și examinează eficiența măsurilor și instrumentelor implementate de Uniunea Europeană până la etapa actuală.Autorii conchid că eficiența măsurilor implementate de Uniunea Europeană sunt controversate. Uniunii Europene îi lipsește o viziune comună și complexă privind fenomenul migraționist și managementul migrației. Migrația, conform autorilor, este un proces care nu poate fi eficient lichidat fără a atenta la drepturile fundamentale ale migranților.Item STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES OF THE EU'S MILITARY CAPABILITIES IN TERMS OF THEIR RELEVANCE TO EUROPEAN SECURITY NEEDS(Editura USM, 2024) Gore, Anastasia; Ejov, CristinaThe European Union (EU) has been actively working to strengthen its military capabilities in recent years, with a focus on improving its relevance to European security needs. However, there are still notable strengths and weaknesses to these capabilities. One strength is the EU's ability to conduct a range of military operations, from peacekeeping and crisis management to combat missions. The EU has also made strides in improving its defense industry and developing common defense procurement policies. On the other hand, weaknesses include a lack of interoperability between member state militaries, limited defense budgets, and a heavy reliance on the United States for military support. Furthermore, the EU's military capabilities may not fully address emerging security threats such as cyber and hybrid warfare. Ultimately, a comprehensive and cohesive approach to European defense is necessary to address these strengths and weaknesses and ensure the EU is able to meet its security needs in an evolving global landscape.
