    Modern medical biotechnologies are invading the domain of human life, generating various legal and ethical questions that did not exist before. This paper intends to determine the status of the in vitro embryo in civil law. The topic is based on the analysis of national and international legislation and jurisprudence. Additionally, the thesis attempts to offer a point of view regarding legal, ethical, biological, social and religious dilemmas.
