În acest articol sunt analizate particularitățile contabilității costurilor de producție și ale calculației costului produsului turistic în industria turismului. În același timp, sunt evidențiate principiile care stau la baza organizării contabilității costurilor de producție şi a calculaţiei costului produselor turistice. În acest context au fost evidențiate anumite probleme în organizarea contabilității costurilor de producție și au fost înaintate unele recomandări care vor spori operativitatea informaţiei contabile, vor intensifica controlul formării costurilor de producţie şi vor contribui la evidenţierea mai amplă a rezervelor de reducere a costului produselor turistice.

Being an economic activity that involves a certain way of organizing and deploying, based on training and resource utilization, and achieving results, tourism is objectively subject to a managerial process. Elaborating correct and timely decisions is only possible if the leadership of an economic entity has sufficient information about the problems and phenomena that it faces. In other words, efficient and modern management implies the existence of an efficient information system capable of providing management with all the necessary elements for the decision-making process. Within the global information system of an economic entity, a major role is played by the accounting information subsystem, which is the basic tool of activity management, especially in tourism activity, which due to its specific nature requires a continuous and intense processing of data and information by financial and management accounting.

Spre sfârșitul secolului al XIX-lea turismul se ancorează profund în mediul înconjurător, transformânduse astfel într-un fenomen social-economic complex. Pentru a-l descoperi și a-i valorifica imensul potențial pe care îl prezintă, suntinițiate diverse studii în căutarea celor mai eficiente soluții, forme și metode de cercetare. Reieșind din rolul şi importanţa turismului în perioada contemporană, au sporit și preocupările pentru definirea cât mai exactă şi completă a acestui fenomen.
