Platelets are blood cells that mediate hemostasis and their dysfunction can be manifested by thrombocytopenia, or hyperactivation. SARSCoV-2 causes platelets’ hyperactivation with an inflammatory cytokine releasing with a blood coagulation disorder, followed by acute severe distress syndrome and thrombocytopenia in 55% of patients. There were examined 44 patients divided according BMI: gr. 1 BMI =30-34.9 kg/m², gr. 2, BMI = 35-39.9 gr. 3 BMI >40, group 4 served a control group, consisted from COVID-19 infected patients with a normal weight. The number of platelets was reduced in 3 gr.-183±30 10³/un.l, compared to 4 gr. – 238.7±40 10³/un.l p≤0.001. Platelet index PCT was higher in 3 gr. – 0.36±0.03, p≤0.01 compared to 4 gr. – 0.27±0.01(fl). C-reactive protein level was higher as well in 3 gr.– 48.6±2.6 mg/l, compared to 4 gr. – 45.3±8 mg/l, p≤0.001. On the background of thrombocytopenia in all evaluated groups, depending on BMI, there was an increase in platelet indexes, PCT and Creactive protein level.ruplateletsC-reactive proteinCovid-19platelet indexesМорфофункциональная характеристика тромбоцитов у пациентов с ожирением инфицированных COVID-19Articlehttps://doi.org/10.52692/cfzl2024.24
