Sunt cercetate principalele drepturi suverane și obligații ale statelor riverane, precum drepturile, obligațiile și libertățile de care se bucură în ZEE statele neriverane sau fără litoral. Analiza se face prin comparație a normelor Convenției ONU 1982, precum și a normelor naționale din dreptul maritim al României și al Federației Ruse. Totodată, se demonstrează că dreptul maritim este în Federația Rusă o ramură de sine stătoare de drept național, ramură sistematizată și codificată.In this article there is analyzed the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) Institution as an institution established for the first time by the only one United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), adopted at Montego Bay (Jamaica) on December 10, 1982. There are researched the main sovereign rights and obligations of coastal States and the rights, duties and freedoms enjoyed by EEZ non-coastal or landlocked states. The analysis is drafted by comparing the 1982 UN Convention provisions and national rules of maritime law of Romania and the Russian Federation.
