We can “view learning as a way of achieving performance, instead of viewing success and failure as a way of learning, we are preoccupied with self at the expense of others, when success is uncertain we become anxious and do things that make it less likely - for example we procrastinate or make excuses for failure. People differ in what they think you have to do to be a person of “worth”, so in what kind of events produce an increase or decrease in self-esteem.
