The first one is an excerpt from Husserl on the givenness in flesh of the perceptual objects. The second one is a passage from Sartre on presence to self. Based on these experiential accounts of two basic forms of presence, which I flesh out, I argue that presence remains a fundamental dimension of experience, and that an account of presence can accommodate various forms of discussion about absence.roPresencephenomenologyHusserlSartreseloodobjectArticle
