Reducing recidivism involves achieving a high level of resocialization in detention, but also in the postpenitentiary stage. The failure of this process in the penitentiaries of the Republic of Moldova boils down to a large number of subculturalized convicts. It follows that subculturalization and resocialization represent two prison processes whose mechanisms must be fully revealed in order to be able to control them.
